We stuck to the WWII theme in Nurnberg- touring the Documentation Center and learning a little history. It seemed we walked miles and miles in this city, and we were getting a little tired on our whirlwind trip, but Beate- Josh's classmate's mom was a great tour guide and hostess despite the slight language barrier!
Then on to Prague...
And Berlin...
...And all the way back to Copenhagen, where we got to spend the last few days of our trip with my dad and his wife Marion. Copenhagen is one of my favorite cities- mostly cause my dad lives there, but also because I have Danish blood! During this trip we were able to visit a town called Magleby- I actually have ancestors from here with the same name- Magleby! I think that's pretty cool, and it was a very cute town to visit!

Rilee was most excited to see the statue of the Little Mermaid, but she (Ariel) was on tour in Tokyo so we only got to see a live video feed of her :(.
We did get to see the Queen's yacht docked in the harbor. Josh wasn't all that impressed- it's no bigger than ours! ha ha We actually saw this yacht sailing on the open seas a couple days later when we took a ferry to Sweden. We heard later that the Queen was traveling to the Faroe Islands- pretty cool if I do say.
On a drive north of Copenhagen we stopped to tour a famous Danish castle and have a picnic lunch in their award winning "backyard"!

We were super sad to leave Europe, so we lessened the blow by having Kirsten meet us in Boston and having another three day trip! I won't bore you with a play by play of this one, but here's a few highlights:
We started one day with a swan boat ride and visit to the Make Way for Ducklings sculpture.
Then we walked almost the entire freedom trail which I highly recommend- it was a great history lesson and a fun way to see the whole city!
I know this seems like a ton of fun for one summer, but it didn't even end there! We were sad to part ways with Rilee and Kirsten, but they had to get back to Seattle and we were on to the next stop: Salt Lake City. We visited with family and friends for a couple weeks and then headed to Amarillo to meet Josh's birth mom! Johnny also proposed to Cindy on the drive down to A-town. We stayed with the Baird's and even got some time in with my brothers- really just a great trip! It was six weeks away from California, but we had a great time!
